Keeping small UPS and Emergency Lighting Systems Cool

At On-Line Power Service, we deal with a variety of UPS and Emergency Lighting Systems. Though we primarily deal with larger UPS systems, we also service and maintain smaller systems found in places such as IT closets and small rooms. Despite the fact that many of the UPS systems that we take care of in Data Centers have adequate cooling systems to ensure their batteries integrity, many of the smaller systems we come across do not, though it is equally important. Failing to properly cool your small UPS and Emergency Lighting Systems can cause these systems to overheat and fail prematurely. The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers recommends allowable operating temperature for IT equipment be between 68°F -77°F.
